Stafford Recreation is very proud to announce an even greater expansion of our specialty themed Summer Camps in 2018. These programs are offered in conjunction with our extensive summer day camp and trip camp. All specialty camps are staffed by qualified specialists from these companies, professionals and community members as well as by Stafford Recreation camp counselors. You must register in person for these programs on any of the registration dates. Registration forms for each camp are available in the link below the descriptions of the programs. Please note there are no multiple child discounts for Specialty Camps.
Stafford Recreation will be accepting late registration for a LIMITED time beginning on May 22. You must register in person at the Bay Avenue Community Center located at 775 E. Bay Avenue. This can be done on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM - NO EXCEPTIONS. This must be done ASAP as we will be closing our rosters shortly.
Please Note: Many trips have already reached capacity and some days/programs have closed.

Campers are invited to join Stafford Township Community Police Officer Christopher Fritz for a week of fun, safe and exciting ways to get fit this summer! This camp will not only be educational but it will also take advantage of the extensive bike path system at the Ocean Acres Community Center, the Colony Lakes neighborhood as well as the Ocean County Rail Trail. Each day will include a bike ride with Officer Fritz as well as a themed lesson regarding biking. Themes will include bike safety, riding individually, riding in groups, the importance of helmets, fitness and fun and much, much more. Stafford Township police officers will also be on hand for individual bicycle inspections as well as registrations into their database in the event of a bike theft. Campers must bring their bike, helmet, 2 water bottles, sneakers (NO SANDALS!) and light colored, loose fitting clothing.

US Sports Institute’s First Play Lacrosse curriculum ensures players will have great fun learning this exhilarating, fast paced game. All participants will learn the fundamentals of the sport including, stick handling, passing, scooping, dodging and shooting as well as many other key techniques. The First Play Lacrosse clinic is ideal for entry level players with little or no previous playing experience. Participants will grouped by age and playing ability as necessary. The US Sports Institute will provide all equipment for this class, but if you have your own stick please feel free to bring it along.
Campers may remain at Day Camp until 2 PM for a fee of $10 per day

Award Winning Marine Science Camp that camp focuses on the preservation of the marine eco system through active hands on learning. New curriculum to include: Manatees, Shark Conservation, Dolphin Echolocation, Bioluminescence and Deep Sea Animals, Microplastics Lab along with an interesting hands-on segment on Biomechanics. Of course we will still have our dissections to learn fun, interesting facts about our local marine life along with, Marine Mammal Rescue Drills and our Crab and Critter Cams so the campers can observe what is happening in our traps and under the water. Live animal guests along with seining and environmental awareness.

During the mornings players will focus on developing their technique and skills within each sport, and gain a basic understanding of playing a scrimmage. The afternoon will consist of small sided scrimmages in a tournament environment where players can earn World Cup points for their team through good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Join Ocean Acres First Grade Teacher, Kelly Potter, to have fun with fitness this summer! I believe that running is fun, even for young children. I have designed a program that will promote exercise and physical fitness through running. It will offer young runners opportunities to set goals and learn the enjoyment of being active and fit. Children will also learn about healthy foods, stretching, strength training, and self-motivation.
Lace up your sneakers and come run with us! Please be sure to wear comfortable clothes, wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

Sports Squirts – Total Play
USSI's Total Sports Squirts programs allow children aged 3 to 5 to experience a new sport in each session of the program. Participants have the opportunity to try Lacrosse, Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball, Floor Hockey, Flag Football, Parachute Games and more in a safe, structured environment. The Total Sports Squirts program is ideal for a child who wants to try his or her hand at a little of everything. As your child develops a favorite sport, they can then move on to one of our sports specific Squirts classes.
As with all Squirts programs, the emphasis is on safety, fun and learning. All sports are presented in a positive and relaxed environment with an emphasis on participation, interaction and communication.

USSI's Lacrosse Squirts is the perfect introduction to the nation's fastest growing sport. Participants will experience all aspects of lacrosse while playing a series of creative and fun games. Players will learn how to cradle, shoot, catch, and scoop. Throughout the program participants will have fun developing their knowledge and understanding of scrimmaging in lacrosse.

The Stafford Township Police Department will be sponsoring a Youth Police Academy this summer for Stafford Township Children entering 6th and 7th grade as of September 2018. The Youth Police Academy will be held at the Stafford Township Police Headquarters. The Youth Police Academy is not a "boot camp" for troubled youth, but a camp designed to operate like an actual police academy for those interested in law enforcement. The objective of the Youth Police Academy is to educate the cadets with various police procedures, history of the Stafford Township Police Department, tours of the Police Headquarters, field trip to the NJ State Police Museum and Learning Center and give them comprehensive understanding of what it takes to succeed in the profession of law enforcement. Cadets should be prepared for an experience spanning a wide variety of Law Enforcement techniques and training. We place strong emphasis on self-respect, respect of others, teamwork and commitment to one’s goals. This will be accomplished through structured events, which will be offered in a fun, informative, interactive, educational and hands-on manner. The curriculum will consist of educational activities as well as physical training activities.

If you are accepted to the Youth Police Academy you will receive a letter in the mail no later than June 15, 2018. At that time you must mail a check in the amount of $75.00 made payable to Stafford Township PBA.
