- Officer Recognition
Each year one officer is recognized for his dedication and commitment to the police department, community, and profession. Police Officer of the Year is a prestigious award that is voted on and selected by one’s fellow officers of the Stafford Township Police Department. Before the vote is taken, each Officer is reminded of the criteria to be considered while voting for the Officer they believed to have demonstrated the following:
"This officer demonstrates a quality work ethic, a high degree of professionalism, motivation, dedication and integrity; enhancing the police image and distinguishing themselves within the law enforcement community."
The Officer Rick Drappi Award was established in honor of the beloved Patrolman Henry (Rick) Drappi. Officer Rick served honorably, faithfully, and with distinction with the Stafford Township Police Department. In 1978, Patrolman Drappi lost his life in a motor vehicle incident at the young age of 21. Since the tragedy, Stafford Township Police Officers have honored his memory, by choosing an officer who best fulfills the following criteria:
“Police officer who has shown unselfish dedication, pride, and concern for others, as Officer Drappi lived every day.”
For the first time in the agency’s history of selecting both the Officer of the year and the Officer Rick Drappi Award the same Officer was selected by a majority vote to receive both prestigious distinctions.
Officer Ed Kunder was selected for his dedication and commitment to the department, the community and his profession. These are very prestigious awards and Officer Kunder is certainly deserving of the honors.
