ARBOR DAY 2018
"L.E.A.F."
Students in our Township schools participate in a poster, poem and essay contest depicting their understanding of how the trees in our forests connect to our lakes and estuaries and impact our daily lives. Awards will be presented to those children who best represent an understanding of this year's theme in each category during our televised Arbor Day ceremony on April 27th, at the Ocean Acres Community Center.
2018 Arbor day theme "L.E.A.F." - Lakes, Estuaries, and Forests
As a coastal community, we need to be aware of the important role lakes, estuaries and forests play in protecting our environment and quality of life. This interconnection is the basis for this year's theme.
To develop a better understanding of the important role all trees play in our daily lives, the Stafford Township Environmental Commission developed, as this year’s theme for Arbor Day 2018, The Commission hopes to draw attention to the importance of protecting and managing our critical lakes, estuaries and coastal forests. We also need to understand how these trees insure our groundwater and aquifers remain clean and capable of supporting a healthy eco-system.
