Stafford Township, NJ - On December 28, 2025, at approximately 1:30 pm, 62-year-old Edward F. Newsom of Raccoon Avenue in Whiting, New Jersey, was placed under arrest for Shoplifting approximately $154 worth of merchandise from the ShopRite located at 297 Route 72 in Manahawkin. Newsom was transported to police headquarters, charged with Shoplifting 2C:20-11b(1), and released with a criminal complaint summons and scheduled to appear in Stafford Township Municipal Court on a later date. Detective Nicholas Racanelli was the arresting officer.
