Stafford Township, NJ – On March 28, 2025 at approximately 8:39 A.M., the Stafford Township Police responded to reports of a suspicious male attempting to enter multiple residences in the Stafford Park section of Stafford Township, NJ. The suspect, described as wearing black clothing and a ski mask, was reportedly seen trying to break into homes in the area of Ashburn Avenue and Payton Drive.
Patrol officers quickly responded to the area and began canvassing for the suspect. Patrolman Caporrino and Patrolman Walker located an individual matching the suspect’s description near the intersection of Osprey Avenue and Corliss Way. The individual was detained for investigative purposes.
The suspect was identified as Donald Reynolds III, a 45-year-old man from Manahawkin, NJ. Officers also observed a red Target shopping bag inside an open-lid recycling bin in the vicinity, which had been discarded by Reynolds just before the officers arrived. The bag was later found to contain stolen items that were linked to a Stafford Township residence, with the total value of the stolen property exceeding $20,000.
Reynolds was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He faces the following charges:
- 2nd Degree Residential Burglary (2C:18-2.2)
- 2nd Degree Attempted Residential Burglary (2C:5-1A(1) / 2C:18-2.2)
- 3rd Degree Theft (2C:20-3A)
The charges were approved on a complaint warrant, and Reynolds was subsequently lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
The arrest was made by Officer Theodore Caporrino, who was assisted by the Stafford Township Detective Bureau.
