Stafford Township, NJ - On Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at approximately 8 PM, the Stafford Township Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) conducted a motor vehicle stop which led to the arrest of 48 year old Stephen H. Thiel Jr. of Clover Path in Maple Shade and 49 year old Michael R. Thiel of Cedar Drive in Manahawkin.
During the investigation it was learned that Stephen H. Thiel Jr. had an active outstanding warrant out of the Delran Municipal Court in the amount of $2,500.00. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, a search resulted in the discovery of suspected heroin, possession of suspected crack/cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and urine to defraud the administration of a drug test.
Ultimately, Stephen H. Thiel Jr. was charged with 2C:35-10A(1) Possession of Crack/Cocaine (3rd degree crime) and 2C:36-2A Drug Paraphernalia (disorderly persons offense). Michael R. Thiel was charged with 2C:35-10A(1) Possession of Heroin (3rd degree crime), 2C:35-10A(1) Possession of Crack/Cocaine (3rd degree crime), 2C:36-10E Possession of a Device to Defraud the Administration of a Drug Test (4th degree crime), and 2C:36-2A Drug Paraphernalia (disorderly persons offense). After being processed at Stafford Township Police Department, Michael R. Thiel was released on a summons and Stephen H. Thiel Jr. was transported to Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing by the Ocean County Superior Court.
