Bank Teller Arrested For Fraud/Theft

Stafford Police Blotter Posted on July 03, 2025

Stafford Township, NJ – On June 19, 2025, the Stafford Township Police Detective Bureau concluded a follow-up investigation of fraudulent use/theft of a debit card and bank account information, which led to the arrest of Katelyn S. Lang (28 years old of Forest Avenue in Browns Mills, NJ). During the course of the follow-up investigation, the Detective Bureau determined there were an additional four victims stemming from the initial investigation in April 2025, all of which Lang had linked their debit card and bank account information to a digital wallet dating back to January 2025 to purchase assorted items from businesses in Stafford Township and neighboring jurisdictions.  Lang, while employed by TD Bank as a teller in Stafford Township, had accessed the four customers' accounts without their knowledge or legitimate business purpose after initially assisting them with a legitimate transaction.

Lang responded to police headquarters to turn herself in and was placed under arrest. She was charged with the following on a criminal complaint summons to appear in Ocean County Superior Court:

  • Five counts 3rd Degree Computer Criminal Activity (N.J.S.A 2C:20-25C)
  • Four counts 4th Degree Credit Card Theft (N.J.S.A 2C:21-6C(1)
  • Two counts 3rd Degree Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card (N.J.S.A 2C:21-6H)
  • One count 3rd Degree Criminal Attempt (N.J.S.A 2C:5-1A(1) / 2C:21-6H)

As a reminder, the Stafford Township Police Department does not release arrest photos of defendants. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
