On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Detectives from the Stafford Township Police Department conducted an undercover operation and successfully apprehended three suspects involved in a series of smart phone package thefts being shipped by FedEx. These thefts are part of an organized crime operation and have been occurring frequently in Stafford Township and throughout the state.
At approximately 2:00 PM, undercover officers observed a Honda CRV with a New York registration approach a residence on Blue Jacket Ave. A male, later identified as 23 year-old Joel Ramirez Espinal of New York, exited the vehicle and attempted to steal a FedEx package off of the front porch which contained numerous I-Phones.
Upon police contact, Espinal attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by detectives. Following Espinal's arrest, two other subjects in the vehicle, later identified as 23 year-old Brandor Rijimarte and 24 year-old Keyter Chala-Mejia, both of New York, attempted to flee the scene in the Honda CRV but were subsequently detained by Detectives who were staged in area.
All three suspects were taken into custody and were subsequently transported to Stafford Township Police Headquarters to further the investigation. The suspects were each charged with Theft, Conspiracy, and Resisting Arrest by Flight, and were released with summonses. Detectives Jacob Conner, Edward Kunder, and Michael Wade were the arresting officers.
As a reminder, the Stafford Township Police Department does not release arrest photos of defendants. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
